Welcome
Hello, and welcome to the University
of West Alabama's study abroad page. This site is dedicated to
educating future pioneers about the exciting possibility of study
abroad. If you are interested in studying aboard, consider this
as the first step towards the achievement of your goals! If you
are still undecided, allow me to try to persuade you for a moment.
Studying abroad is a great way to expand your character! Learning
to deal with other cultures, encountering attitudes and situations you
are not familiar with, facing the daily challenges that characterize
studying abroad, all these things combine to create an incredible growth
experience. And let's not forget how appealing this will make you
to future employers!
This site is broken down into four
main sections, and each one is designed to help you get a handle on the
whole study aboard thing. First up is the article's page, where we
have compiled a list of articles that each explores a particular part of
study abroad. Second up is a list of useful links. Each link
has a short description, and will take you to sites that have useful
information pertaining to studying abroad. Next is the Alumni
page, which gives information on past study abroad students from UWA.
Lastly we have "The Diary of a Traveling Student," penned by our very
own Allan Noble. Allan studied in Japan from March 2005 until July
2005, and this is the diary that he kept. For those of you who are
interested in studying abroad, you can read his first hand account of
the trip.
This website is still a work in
progress, but we plan for it to grow by students adding their own
information to it. So please, study abroad so this website will
get bigger! Of course, the benefits to you will be huge as
well. If y'all have any questions, please contact us. Or
talk to your advisor about studying abroad. I bet he or she would be
pleasantly surprised.
